Zenzo and Joel to play for Highlanders

BULAWAYO - Highlanders are on the verge of signing on crack Zimbabwe midfielder Joel Luphahla and former Warriors striker Zenzo Moyo in a move that could easily

propel the Bulawayo-based football team to the league title this season.

The Club’s vice chairman Elkanah Dube confirmed at Barbourfields Stadium as he watched his team edge city rivals Zimbabwe Saints 4-3 in a friendly match, that the dynamic duo would play for his club when the league kicks off in a fortnight.

“Zenzo (Moyo) and Joel (Luphahla) have been training with us for sometime now and I can assure you that Zenzo will play for Highlanders this season and that we are having fruitful negotiations with Supersport to keep Joel until August,” said Dube.

Luphahla has a running contract with South Africa Premier Soccer League side Supersport but has not been a regular at the club as they have more than the stipulated five foreign players in their books.

His club is hopeful that he would be sold to European clubs if he maintains his match fitness by playing for Highlanders.

Luphahla, who has played for the national team in the last Africa Cup of Nations finals, leaves for South Africa today to tie up some loose ends with his employers and should return before the end of week with his international clearance license to join Highlanders. The speedy striker has featured in two friendly matches for the Bulawayo team and scored three goals of which he slammed two against Zimbabwe Saints yesterday.

Moyo on the other hand has no contract after the termination of his contract with Greece outfit Hilkadonna last year and although training with Bosso, the fiery striker has not donned the black and white Bosso strip as yet.

Highlanders manager Emmett Ndlovu said Moyo wanted to regain his fitness before coming under the scrutiny of the hard to please Bosso fans. – CAJ News.
