Dynamos brought down to earth

HARARE - Army side Black Rhinos, played some brilliant football to dismiss Harare giants Dynamos 2-1 in a Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro Stadium last weekend.

Dynamos were bubbling with confidence after their morale-boosting 1-0 win over Shooting Stars last week but they were brought d

own to mother earth by an inspired Rhinos. Rufaro Stadium was packed to capacity but Rhinos ignored the noisy Dynamos fans and could have scored more had it not been for some poor officiating. In Bulawayo, Highlanders made it clear that they also want to have a say in this year’s championship title race with an emphatic 3-0 win over hapless Shabanie Mine at Barbourfields Stadium. Masvingo United, who are also gunning for the championship, were in top form as they dispatched out of sorts Motor Action 3-1 at Mucheke Stadium, also yesterday.

Motor Action have now conceded six goals in two matches after they were hammered 3-0 in the season’s opener by Monomotapa last week. Newboys, Mwana Africa did well in winning 1-0 against Hwange at the Colliery. It is always difficult to win in Hwange but Mwana Africa defied all odds. Champions CAPS United beat Buymore 3-0 at the National Sports Stadium. On Saturday, Monomotapa continued with their fine run by beating Zimbabwe Saints 2-1 at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare. Former Hwange striker, Takesure Chinyama was the hero of the day after he scored the winner. Shooting Stars, made up of players who nearly sent Dynamos to relegation last season were put into their right place when they were thrashed 4-0 by Lancashire Steel at Rufaro Stadium. Also on Saturday, Chapungu routed Railstars 4-0 at Barbourfields Stadium.
