Zifa bungling

BULAWAYO - THE cancellation of the Independence semi-final matches set for last week has cost Masvingo United over Z$300 million. The team was scheduled to play against Highlanders, but the country’s football mother body, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), at the last minute cancelle

d the match much to the inconvenience of the participating teams.
ZIFA did not state the reasons for the postponement. CAJNEWS learnt that Masvingo United lost over Z$300 million in hotel bills, match preparations and travelling expenses as the team had played against Hwange the previous Sunday. Instead of returning all the way to Masvingo after the match they stayed at Hwange Lodge for three days and travelled to Bulawayo on Tuesday, only to learn that the match had been cancelled.
“We extended our stay in Hwange by booking at Hwange Lodge…We are unhappy about the last minute cancellation, because if we had been informed before hand we were not going to incur the over $300 million loss in accommodation bills,” said secretary Nathan Asidi. “We are very disappointed about the whole development, but we have decided not to take any action against ZIFA.”
Ernest Sibanda, the Highlanders chairman, said his team did not incur any losses. – CAJ News.
