ut auditing accounts. The revelations were made last week at a no-holds-barred stakeholders meeting meant to chart a way forward for the club that has been registering losses as they play premiership matches. However, the meeting failed to find a lasting solution to the cancer bedeviling the club, with board of trustees’ chairperson, Samuel Makumbe, saying another meeting would be held soon to make binding resolutions. At the meeting, it was revealed Saints last held executive committee elections in 1999 and ever since, the Martin Mabvira-led executive has been co-opting members to the committee. Members expressed concern at the failure of the club to hold elections, arguing that this had contributed to chaos reigning supreme at the club, manifesting itself in power squabbles. Makumbe attributed the anomaly to the membership register, which he said was not updated making it difficult to hold elections. “The elections will be held only after the membership register has been updated,” he said. Members also called on Mabvira, the Saints secretary, to step down as he ‘has become a liability to the club’. Zimbabwe Saints has been reduced to a circus with members fighting for control of the club. Sponsors have shied away from the club due to the endless squabbles and simmering divisions similar to Harare giants, Dynamos. The team is currently rooted at the bottom end of the premiership league as they have lost all but one of the opening matches played. – CAJ News
