Highlanders beat Dynamos

HARARE - Log leaders Highlanders cemented their position at the log of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) log after they beat rivals Dynamos 1-0 at a well attended match at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The Bulawayo giants played some brilliant football which left the 35 000 fans at the stadium


asking for more. Bosso dominated the exchanges from the first whistle although Dynamos tried to claw their way back into the game towards the end of the first half.

Highlanders came back into the second half attacking from all angles and it came as no surprise when they took a deserved lead through chief poacher Ralph Matema mid-way into the second half.

Matema powerfully headed home a cross from the right by midfielder Johannes Ngodzo to silence the predominantly Dynamos crowd.

Dynamos put up a lifeless performance that it was difficult to tell whether their players were on go slow or we just outplayed by a fluent Highlanders.

Second placed Chapungu United ran riot at Ascot Stadium yesterday to thrash an out of sorts Mwana Africa 5-0 with all goals coming from headers.

Masvingo United draw 1-1 with Shabanie Mine at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo while Zimbabwe Saints shocked Moses Chunga’s Shooting Stars 3-2 at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

On Saturday, Harare witnessed probably the most boring match this season when Monomotapa and champions CAPS United played a dull 0-0 draw. Fans who paid to watch the match felt cheated as the two teams took turns to make a mockery of football.

Motor Action and Black Rhinos were in action at Callies Sports Club also on Saturday and they finished the match tied at 1-1.

Railstars and Buymore drew 1-1 at Gwanzura Stadium also on Saturday. On the same day, Lancashire Steel beat Hwange 2-1 at Baghdad Stadium in Kwekwe. – ZimOnline
