Tsvangirai should resign

EDITOR - It is with much pain and despair that I write this letter. I'm so appalled by the level of immaturity and intolerance that I continue to witness from the leader of the main MDC faction (Morgan Tsvangirai). I am a pastor who has been closely following the happenings at MDC from the sidelines

. I am not a politician but naturally I will support a party that advocates justice, peace and prosperity for its people.
The MDC started so well but the biggest problem in Zimbabwe, which also affects the MDC is tribalism. Zimbabweans, especially Shona people, must come to a realization that politics of tribe will never get us anywhere. It is very wrong to think and believe that only Shonas are entitled to rule Zimbabwe come hell or thunder.
We must come to a level where one qualifies to be a leader in whatever position of authority in our society on merit rather than tribe or race. If we continue to dwell in the past we will always remain backward and underdeveloped. The problem with Morgan Tsvangirai is that he was schooled by Zanu (PF), therefore he is prone to using their tactics of violence and endless denials. I don’t have 100% proof of this but I can only rely from information from within their ranks. Tsvangirai has disappointed many people on many occasions.
It is foolhardy for MDC or anyone else to think that Mugabe and his party can easily give up power considering the stakes involved. These are seasoned politicians who were schooled by shrewd and tough political architects (Russian & Chinese communists).
They can only be defeated by very wise, principled and consistent leaders who are prepared to give up their all for the cause of justice. I therefore advise Tsvangirai to do the honourable thing and resign and allow someone to take over for the good of the country.
