The match, which was played at a fast tempo, saw a total of six goals being scored as the two teams threw everything they had into attack. Zimbabwe were the first to score in the fourth minute through Alisa Satichi only for South Africa to equalise a minute later when captain Excellent Walaza ran solo on the right to fire past Zimbabwean goalkeeper Ronald Mudimu.
