hoyandou, Limpopo province last weekend, MDC Organising Secretary for South Africa, Rodgers Mudarikwa, urged the Zimbabwean professionals, who have been reduced to farm labourers by the Zanu (PF) regime, to remember that they were in exile because of the misrule, political persecution and draconian laws of the present government.
“When we come to South Africa, we must not forget that we are here because of Mugabe who forced us to leave the country. As MDC, we must continue mobilising all Zimbabweans working in these commercial farming areas of South Africa. You have been reduced to become farm labourers by the Zanu (PF) regime. My fellow countrymen, 2008 must be the turning point, and make sure that we return to the majority rule and enjoy democracy in its fullest,” said Mudarikwa.
“MDC is the only political party in the country that has capabilities of bringing change to the nation. When we come here to SA we must not forget that the regime forced us to leave our beautiful country. Let’s keep the spirit of togetherness and fight the regime,” said Mudarikwa.
Wits University Economic Lecturer, Simba Manyanya, said Mugabe should not have a monopoly of decision making over where Zimbabweans in the Diaspora should vote.
“The whole world now has a clear perspective on developments in Zimbabwe; it is an accepted fact that political change has to be a reality in Zimbabwe. Leadership in the Diaspora must giving meaning to people’s yearnings for meaningful change when the elections do come. In this search for leadership are many threats; for instance the possibilities of power being transferred to the military as has been mooted in the press. In fact a broader approach to the elections issue could be hel(PF)ul given links with succession considerations and emerging prospects of military rule that have to be mooted in the debates.
“So for Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to have a firm hold over their lives more issues to do with the rulership of their country, including elections, have to be put in perspective,” said Manyanya.
MDC Secretary for Thoyandou, Lovemore Mutiri and MDC Youth District Chairman for Thoyandou, Admire Teta also addressed the farm workers in the Limpopo town.- CAJ News
