PSL battle hots up

HARARE - THE Zimbabwe premiership league resumes on Saturday with the three top soccer clubs promising to pick-up from where they left as the championship race hots up.
On top of the league log are Highlanders with 52 points from 24 outings, whilst Motor Action and Masvingo United are lying se

cond and third respectively.
With only six league matches before the premiership curtains come down, the race between Bosso, Motor Action and Masvingo United is wide open and any team that wins all the remaining matches would make it.
The current log leaders, Highlanders, are not consistent with their play as evidenced by some recent draws and loses, a sad development that is beginning to threaten their championship aspirations.
Technically, Highlanders are not in a difficult position to clinch this season’s premiership title, but chances are bright for both Motor Action and Masvingo United to dislodge Bosso if they maintain their winning streak.
Whilst the main battles for premiership hours awaits one of the three, Highlanders, Motor Action and Masvingo, the story is different for the relegation threatened clubs such as Railstars, Shabanie Mine and Zimbabwe Saints.
The three clubs are playing badly and they are seriously threatened with relegation, a move the club coaches, players and administrators should fight as united to avoid the chop.
Zimbabwe Saints, who came back from the premiership barely four years in absentia are the favourite candidates from the premiership demotion.
Zimbabwe Saints, popularly known as Chauya Chikwata, are not consistent as well in their play as one week they got it right and then the following week the Bulawayo’s fading giants hit-bottom rock.
With the African Cup of Nations matches were played over the weekend, the Zimbabwe premiership race is back on track with those clubs vying for the title tightening their battle whilst those facing the chop making frantic efforts to avoid defeat in the remaining six matches. – CAJ News
