Chicago Pirates top the League

MBARE - The League is still alive and kicking, literally, as the main stream league matches have taken a break at the 24th week to give way to the Mbare National Cup mini - league phase.
In the main stream league Chicago Pirates have all but wrapped up this inaugural championship as they h

ave now amassed an unassailable 14 point lead with just two games to go. It’s been a long hard campaign for the first year of the league, and we congratulate them for winning the first championship by setting such a high standard and bench mark for future champions. A total of 537 goals have so far been scored in the main stream league.
There have been thrills from the mini-league games as a total of 126 goals have so far been scored with 54 goals in Group A and a prolific 72 goals in Group B so far. Corner Office in Group B is proving to be a high scoring team in the cup, followed by Mutape Sharp Shooters, F C Wagadhugu, Real Zhunde and Chicago Pirates.
All the teams in the League have contributed Z$5 000 each for prizes for the Cup for a total of Z$70 000, and three well-wishers have given donations to bring the total amount to Z$90 000.
The top four teams in each mini-league will qualify for the quarter-finals.
We are still appealing for contributions for prizes for the League championship and the trophy.
