Highlanders storm to victory

HARARE - Bulawayo soccer giants, Highlanders Football Club thrashed Hwange 4-2 in a strongly contested premiership encounter at the Colliery on Sunday to wrestle away the premiership title from close rivals CAPS United.

Hwange found their consolation goals through Ronald Zimbudzana and Andrew Chuma.
Eslewhere, Masvingo United humiliated Zimbabwe Saints 2-0 in another exciting premiership league match strongly contested at Barbourfields Stadium.
Goals by Masvingo United Captain Godfrey Dondo and dependable Wonder Sithole were all the busmen needed to close in the gap on second placed Motor Action.
Former champions, Dynamos blew a glorious opportunity to move to the fourth position of the premiership log standings when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Monomotapa in another league match played at the home of Zimbabwean football-Rufaro Stadium.
Dynamos did not score any goal in Sunday’s encounter as Monomotapa defender Irvine Tinarwo beat his own goalkeeper.
Monomotapa had earlier on taken the lead through Archiford Zhuwawo in the 41 st minute only to see his solitary goal of the day being cancelled by his own defender, a gift that presented Dynamos with a point.
Relegation threatened Shabanie Mine were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Harare soccer side, Shooting Stars in an league match at Maglass Stadium.
