Ullyett and Hanley took the first set in 36 minutes but lost the second 5-7 setting the stage for the decisive third set.
And, when they needed the momentum, Bjorkman and Mirnyi found it in a tough final set to seal their place in the final.
Bjorkman has won his three titles in Melbourne with three different partners – Jacco Eltingh (1998), Pat Rafter (1999) and Todd Woodbridge (2001).
Now he could add a fourth with Mirnyi.
The combination between the Swede and the giant Belarusian had been a success with six titles in 2006, including the French Open, and the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
Meanwhile, Cara Black and her South African partner Liezel Huber are scheduled to take on the unseeded duo of Yung-Jan Chan and Chia-Jung Chuang in the women’s doubles final.
