Cup draw favours Zim

HARARE - Zimbabwe's Davis Cup team was handed a relatively easy draw in the Euro-Africa Zone Group to be played from May 7-14.
Zimbabwe have been drawn in the same group as neighbours South Africa, and hosts Tunisia, as well as Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mauritius and Namibia
The eight te

ams will be divided into two groups of four and play in the round-robin format.
The top two teams from each group qualify for the next stage with the bottom two in each group being relegated to the Euro-Africa Zone Group Four.
The country’s number one player, Genius Chidzikwe, is expected to lead Zimbabwe’s onslaught. Chidzikwe is likely to get the support from up and
coming youngsters Takanyi Garanganga, Takura Happy and Mbonisi Ndimande.
Zimbabwe was relegated to Group Three after suffering a 1- 4 drubbing at the hands of the not so strong Greece in the relegation play-offs in
Thessalonika in July last year. Going by the rankings, South Africa and Zimbabwe are strong favourites to qualify in Group Two as they are ranked second and third respectively in
Africa. Morocco is ranked as the best tennis playing nation in Africa, but is in the Euro Africa Zone Group Two. – Sports reporter
