Nickel miners show their mettle

BULAWAYO - Barely a year in the top flight premiership league, Mwana Africa Football Club made their impact felt in the domestic premiership when they humiliated Zimbabwean champions Highlanders 3-0 in their favourite hunting grounds of Barbourfields before clinching a whopping Z$100m Nestle Champio

n of Champions Charity Shield on Sunday.
The Bindura based nickel miners Mwana Africa won the coveted trophy after accounting for Bosso 3-0 on aggregate. The return leg played on Sunday at Barbourfields ended in a goalless draw, a move that saw Mwana Africa easily snap up the title for the first time.
Earlier on, the high-riding Mwana Africa had massacred Highlanders 3-0 in the first leg at Trojan Mine before holding the much-fancied hosts Highlanders at a packed Barbourfields Stadium to complete a clean sheet against the premiership champions.
As if that was not enough, Mwana Africa also won the inaugural CBZ Cup late last year, in a move that has proved that the Bindura Nikel Miners are a force to reckon with in the domestic premiership.
