Sevens side gets SA invite

HARARE - The national sevens rugby side has been invited to take part at the South African Invitational Sevens Series next month.
The tournament, to be sponsored by Golden Lions, will involve countries such as Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia and the host country's provincial sides.

R>Team manager Bruce Hobson said the teams would use the tournament to prepare for the forthcoming tour of Europe in May, after their request to play at the Hong Kong Sevens series was turned down by the International Rugby Board.
The Cheetahs, as they are affectionately known, will take part in events such as the Benidorm (Spain) and Amsterdam games in Europe and the Tuskers and Mosi Sevens in Africa.
Cheetahs players in South Africa are Fortune Chipendo, Tangai Nemadire and Wesley Mbanje who are holding trials at Golden Lions. The three recently snubbed an offer from Border Bulldogs.
