eek, Biti said the communication to Mbeki had been agreed upon by both factions of the MDC and registered concern at the failure by Zanu (PF) to attend the third meeting that was set for Pretoria a fortnight ago.
“We have communicated to Mbeki our concern over the approach by Zanu (PF), as well as that we might be left without any other option but to pull out of the initiative and concentrate on other issues,” Biti said.
It was difficult to obtain comment from Mbeki’s office but Welshman Ncube, secretary general of the MDC (Mutambara), confirmed Biti’s statement.
Both opposition parties agreed that unless the ruling party immediately changed its approach, they could not continue wasting time pursuing the talks. – Own correspondent
