Charamba shines (14-08-07)

A TOP 10 finish at the conclusion of the Sunshine Tour’s Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour Free State at Bloemfontein Golf Club last week confirmed that Tongoona Charamba is undoubtedly one of Zimbabwe’s top in form players of the moment .

Charamba ended the tournament tied for seve


nth place on 8- under- par 208 after respective closing rounds of 72, 66 and 71, on a four man tie with South African trio of Mark Murless, Nico van Rensburg and Alex Haindl.
The seventh place finish came with a R8, 800. 00 cheque.

As a result, Charamba leaps to 47th on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit with total earnings of R118, 043,66 following 15 starts.

South Africa’s Ulrich van den Burg claimed his fifth professional title carding a final round 69 to win by three strokes from countryman Bradford Vaughn, who signed for a final round 68.

Another notable performer at the tournament was Brazilian born Adilson Da Silva who launched his golfing career in Zimbabwe. Da Silva finished a shot behind Charamba tied on 7- under- par 209.
Last week’s top 10 finish was a timely finish for Charamba searching for his second Sunshine Tour title since he walked away with the top prize at the South African Airways Invitational Pro Am last year
