Hampshire piles on pressure

BY JOHN HUGHES
SHANE Warne's Hampshire warmed up for this Saturday's Friends Provident Trophy final against Durham at Lord's with a crushing 285-run County Championship win over Worcestershire at Southampton.
The result leaves Hampshire hot on the heels of Sussex and Yorkshire in the title

race and with a match in hand on both.
Sussex, the leaders, drew a high-scoring fixture with Warwickshire at Hove, while Lancashire’s Muttiah Muralitharan took 5-66 to spin Yorkshire to an innings defeat in the Roses clash at Leeds.
Hampshire will be strengthened by the return of England’s Kevin Pietersen and Chris Tremlett at Lord’s and Durham include England duo Steve Harmison and Paul Collingwood. Hampshire have won their previous four finals, Durham are playing their first.
