Kent lift Twenty20 Cup

RYAN McLaren, the South African seamer, stole the show as Kent lifted the Twenty20 Cup in a thrilling final at Edgbaston. McLaren grabbed a hat-trick in Gloucestershire's 146-8 and Kent went on to win by four wickets.

d’s Craig Spearman blasted 86 as Gloucestershire (152-2) pulled off a shock eight-wicket win over Lancashire, whose star man Andrew Flintoff was run out for three.
Sri Lanka paceman Lasith Malinga took 3-30 on his Kent debut as Sussex were bowled out for 140 after reaching 60 without loss. Kent replied with 141-5.
In the County Championship, Naved-ul-Hasan claimed 3-10 off nine overs as Sussex, the defending champions, took over top spot with a 108-run win over Lancashire at Liverpool.
Worcestershire will not play at their picturesque New Road headquarters again this season. A huge layer of mud covers the playing area that was recently under 12ft of flood water. The remaining home matches will be switched to Kidderminster.
