Meanwhile, the names of those selected to play in the national championships have been released .They are Fide Master Rodwell Makoto, Elisha Chimbamu, Charlton Maravanyika, Lloyd Moyo, Erick Takawira, veteran Miles Cochrane, Daudi Amini, Tinashe Tafira, Spencer Masango, Ziggie Murapa, Lewis Kahoba and Carlton Niason.
They will battle it out at a venue to be announced, early next month.
Makoto will be vying for the title with Masango, Cochrane, Amini and former national champion Chimbamu.
A new committee was elected for the national chess league and Mutenure David was retained as chairman, Francis Mukusha is his vice, Best Mahwita is the treasurer and Simbarashe Murimi is the secretary. Â

Gwaze to Russia tourney

CHESS sensation and International Master, Robert Gwaze, is set to compete at the World Cup chess championships to be held in Russia next month.
Last month, he was crowned the African champion and this enabled him to qualify for the tourney.
