Senegal’s President meets Mugabe ahead of EU-Africa summit

Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade arrived in Zimbabwe today for talks with Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe in a bid to defuse tensions building up between Harare and London ahead of next months EU-Africa summit in Portugal, AFP reports.

British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown has confirmed that he will not attend the summit to be held in Lisbon on December 8-9 after Mugabe declared that he would be present at the talks.

Wade is meeting the leader of Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu-PF party over concerns that the impasse could derail the summit.
