Mbeki, who stopped over in Harare for a one hour meeting with Mugabe on his way to the SADC extra-ordinary summit in Lusaka, refused to categorise the stand-off over presidential election results as a crisis. I wouldn’t describe that as a crisis, he said. It’s a normal electoral process in Zimbabwe. We have to wait for ZEC (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission) to release (the results). Mugabe told journalists that he could not attend the summit ostensibly because he had other engagements in Harare and said he would be represented by three senior government officials at the summit.
