Zimbabwe set to host regional junior athletes


 
THE National Athletics' Association of Zimbabwe is scheduled to hosts the two-day Confederation of African Athletics Southern Region Junior Championships, to begin on June 7.


The NAAZ president, Joseph Mungwari said six countries had confirmed their participation at the regional championships set for the University of Zimbabwe. South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Zambia and Malawi will be expected to send their top athletes.According to Mungwari, Zimbabwe will field the biggest squad as the tournament hosts, as the Under-20 athletes seek regional glory. The tournament will also be used to select the final team to the IAAF World Junior Championships set for Bydgoszcz, Poland, beginning 8-13 July.
