Bhebhe was arrested in June in Nkayi and detained for more than a week without trial. He was accused of driving a South African registered Toyota Hilux belonging to his relative without an affidavit from the owner, based in Johannesburg.
Two weeks ago, when Bhebhe was released, the High Court ordered the release of the car but Nkayi police ignored the order, claiming that they were still investigating the matter as they suspected the car was stolen.
“I have instructed my lawyer to file contempt of court charges against the police,” Bhebhe said.
