The visitors, Gunners were the first to score through former Black Rhinos defender-cum-midfielder Rowan Nenzou in the early stages of the match. The hard tackling Nenzou capitalised on some defensive lapse by Kiglon defenders following some brilliant footworks by Tapiwa Mangezi on the right before rifling home from close range.

But the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Eastern region champions were not intimidated by this early goal as they fought back from left, right and centre whilst looking for an equaliser. It came as no surprise when Kiglon equalised in the 70th minute through Nelson Zivisai, who beat Gunners keeper hands down with a flashing diving header.
