Looking for former classmates

EDITOR – I’m searching for my former classmates for 2004 at Milton High School in Bulawayo. I left Zim. in 2006 and I’m pleading my fellow colleagues to contact me by e-mail. THABO NDLOVU, thabo.ndlovu98@yahoo.com

Mutambara eats crumbs

EDITOR – I am not surprised that Mutambara has chosen the easy way out. For a man who entered the political scene promising fireworks, life has not been rosy. He is prepared to accept the crumbs from the emperor’s table because deep in his heart he knows he does not deserve his place in the negotiations.

The ‘political giant’ rejected by voters in Chitungwiza can never be expected to have the people’s interests at heart. His only motivation is to take whatever he can while he still can because he knows that there will not be another chance. The regret I have is that Mutambara is failing the people who voted for his candidates thinking they represented change only to be sold to Zanu (PF).

History will judge Mutambara and his MDC harshly for betraying the people at the most critical time. All the best Prof., hope your heart sits easy with this decision to choose power over democracy. – NYENGETERAI GIDI, United Kingdom

Where is diesel witchdoctor?

EDITOR – It would be great if you could do a feature on the diesel witchdoctor, just to remind Zimbabweans how dumb Zanu (PF) leaders are. You should publish the photo of the barefoot ministers on your front page.

Zimbabweans are still asking where the promised maize is. How did Dr. Made tell the difference between maize and weeds when he did his crop assessment in a helicopter? A waste of taxpayers’ money on an expensive joyride. – ANON., by e-mail

Stock exchange bubble will burst

EDITOR – For the past few weeks I have been hearing persistent rumours from those in the financial sector that the Zimbabwean stock exchange bubble is going to burst at any time. One of them explained that it was like buying a minibus with no engine.

I took it upon myself to investigate some of the companies I have invested in. The companies are basically shell companies; there is no production to talk about. Most of the plant and equipment has been cannibalized. The myth that when Zimbabwe’s economy turns around, foreign investors will invest in these companies is nothing but a mirage as most of these companies have obsolete equipment and technology.

Zimbabwean property values are the cheapest in world and actually depreciating in foreign currency value.

At the moment there are few investors coming into the market. In a normal environment investors in the stock market determine their return of investment on the production of the company that they are investing in.

I agree with the financial experts that the stock market is going to crash soon. – ANON., by e-mail

Mutambara sows seeds of discord

EDITOR – What are Mutambara and his cohort bringing to the negotiating table?

The issue at stake is Mugabe running against himself in the June 27 election. He is not even a presidential candidate.

Perhaps Makoni should join the envisaged unity govt. to be called Zanu MDC Mavanbo project (PF), instead of sowing seeds of discord among the MDC. It is imperative that Mutambara be included in the EU/US travel ban. If he can seal a deal with Makoni and Mugabe in under a week, what will prevent him from doing the same with Tsvangirai? – ANON., by e-mail

Looking for Josephine Tambudze

EDITOR – Can you help me locate Josephine Tambudze? I last saw her in Harare when she was working at ZIMRA Kurima House. If she is not in Zimbabwe then she is in the UK. Anyone with information please contact me on walle@yahoo.com. – by e-mail

Questions for Mutambara

EDITOR –

1. Did he re-claim the President position from Dr. S. Makoni after 29 March 2008 election?

2. Does he have what it takes to be the President of a party?

3. Did he read the M.O.U. to the last line?

4. Is he now the President Thabo’s spokesman?

5. The only daily paper tells us that he signed a deal, is it true?

6. Did Prof. Mutambara check with President Thabo why the UN and AU members were not in Harare this time around?

Zanu’s anti-imperia agenda

EDITOR – The Herald reported that Britain’s funding of Zimbabwean land reform formed part of the talks to reach a negotiated settlement on how the Zimbabwean government will be led. “On the 25th of July, the three parties said Britain must honour its Lancaster House obligations to fund land tenure reforms in the country,” the Herald reported.

Since when has Zanu (PF) realised that British money is important to Zimbabwe’s land ‘reform’ program? And why would Zanu (PF) want British money and at the same time demand that Britain has no say in the internal affairs of Zimbabwe?

Zimbabweans voted for change on March 29, the only ones recognized by SADC and the AU. Any new dispensation must do away with Robert Mugabe, even if this means Morgan Tsvangirai will not get total power. We cannot talk of anything new with the same old Mugabe involved.

Mugabe is the major source of Zimbabwe’s problems. Other issues such as land reform, sanctions, foreign radio stations and Caesar Zvayi are secondary. – CALVIN GUMEDE, Harare

An evil remains an evil…

PRESIDENT MUGABE – Below are your own ‘words’ spoken when you assumed the privileged office of President of the Democratic Republic of Zimbabwe in April 1980.

“If yesterday you hated me,” he told his defeated white countrymen, “today you cannot avoid the love that binds you to me and me to you… The wrongs of the past must now stand forgiven and forgotten… It could never be a correct justification that because the whites oppressed us yesterday when they had power, the blacks must oppress them today because they have power. An evil remains an evil, whether practiced by white against black or by black against white.”

The only way to overcome any evil is to respond with good.

I read that you believe only God himself will remove you from your Executive office. If so, then allow me to remind you of the very words and commands of God.

“…be sure to appoint over you a king (president or ruler) the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your own brothers. Do not place a foreigner over you…the king, moreover must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself…he must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.” (Deuteronomy 17:15)

Zimbabwe is awaiting God’s miraculous deliverance from its corruption, greed, idolatry, immorality and intimidation. God makes it clear that there should be no partiality between brothers, the rich or poor, foreigners or aliens.

Mr. President, I beseech you, now is the time to humble yourself and pray. Remember, “an evil remains an evil”… until it is overcome by good! – ZEALOUS FOR ZIMBABWE, by e-mail

Mutambara resorts to bad mouthing

EDITOR – Following some media reports that Professor Arthur Mutambara, leader of the break-away MDC, had agreed with Mugabe that he becomes one of the deputy Prime Ministers under the proposed transitional government, or Government of National unity, I wrote to Professor Mutambara suggesting that he can only be Prime Minister if the main MDC was agreeable to that because it is the party that won most seats in parliament. I apologised to Professor Mutambara in advance if I was basing my opinion on a false report, because I know media can sometimes publish false information.

I was shocked with the response:

“Stop all communication to me please. Why can’t you find better things to do with your life? Foolish loser.”

I copied my response to two senior officials of the party, Professor Welshman Ncube and David Coltart so that they could see of themselves what kind of a person they had as leader of their party.

What is Arthur Mutambara really up to? He has proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he has some Mugabe-like characteristics.

Like Tendai Biti said “I think we need to pray” for our country. – BENJAMIN CHITATE, New Zealand

Mugabe as rigid as his 85 years

EDITOR – We indicated before that Robert Mugabe the former President of Zimbabwe will not change. He is not aware of the pain and terror he caused right from 1980 to date.

The old man sees no wrong in using government machinery to kill MDC-T voters for rejecting him on March 29. SADC, AU, UN, Britain, the United States and the International Community are being taken for a ride. Zanu (PF) as a secretive Party is not sleeping at night strategising how to stay in power.

What they are saying in public is not what is happening on the ground. The Propaganda machinery has been sharpened by putting Muchechetere in-charge of ZBC. The CIO, the Police, Soldiers, War vets and Green Bombers are on alert to kill any time.

Robert Mugabe thinks he is indispensable and sees the rest of his Ministers, Politiburo and Central mob as un-trustworthy to take-over Zanu (PF) leadership. Mugabe has nothing to offer a Transitional/Interim government except causing havoc and buying time for him to die in office to avoid prosecution.

Mugabe should be forced to retire and face his fate the same way he killed and raped innocent people. – THE STREET KID, by e-mail

Ashamed of Mugabe

EDITOR – I am ashamed by what Mugabe has done. How can he detain and confiscate Morgan Tsvangirai’s travel document yet he knows it very well that he is trying to rob us of our choice as Zimbabweans?

Mugabe conceded defeat on March 29 and publicly announced that Tsvangirai won the elections. We have given Tsvangirai the button to decide our future as a nation. Mugabe, please stop trying people’s patience, we have respected you and allowed you to be treated as Tsvangirai’s equal but you do not to understand our language through the ballot. You are old, please stop your imperialist puppet rhetoric and behave like a loving father who cares for his children.

We want to come back to our country of birth so give us space now.

Tsvangirai, we have given you the mandate to lead not to take any instructions from the one who failed us. Go with the people, remember Muzorewa’s mistake. We will be with you. – LOVEMORE CHIKANDIWA, MDC Pretoria

Talks a waste of time

EDITOR – How can the international community allow this to prevail and still preach the gospel of democracy?

Prove us wrong Western World; that you don’t only intervene where you have “material interests.” Freeing the people of Zimbabwe from the shackles of bondage will be a milestone achievement in African and Global history.

Zanu (PF) has no respect for the current power-sharing talks. Tsvangirai is the head of a disgruntled Zimbabwe and his participation in the talks is a patriotic action of desperation.

Mugabe fears his army leaders more than he fears the weak SADC and International Community leaders. Zanu (PF) has survived for too long under the guise of guarding the nation’s sovereignty. Tsvangirai is being taken for a long and bumpy ride. On the same token the disarmed and weakened people of Zim have no control over their destiny.

If the world understood how powerful Mugabe is, they would fully understand that the talks are a “quality waste of time”. – MTAWAZ, Harare

We have come this far

EDITOR – The time we have been waiting for is now. Tsvangirai – do not forget that Bob is a vampire. Remember what he did to Tongogara and all the other fallen heroes?

Work but do not be used, relax but do not sleep, make friends but do not over-trust them.

A new Zimbabwe is a new beginning with tolerance, dignity and respect for one another. As the masses of Zimbabwe, we shall fight for peace. We have come this far and can go further, that’s why we sing ZANU YAWORA BABA. – TAFADZWANASHE GUMINDOGA, by e-mail

Zimbabwe’s violent legacy

EDITOR – In 1800BC an ancient state called the Rozvi existed which is now present day Zimbabwe. It was under the rulership of a brutal leader, Changamire Dombo.

It was characterized by militarization of every state arm, with its national budget lopsided in favour of military sponsorship at the detriment of service delivery sectors.

The advent of the white minority settler regime used intimidation to integrate into the society, structuring a legal oppressive framework in favour of a particular race. The counter strategies used by both Shonas and Ndebeles set violence as a solution torch bearer for the society.

The formation of Zanu (PF) was earmarked by bitter military armed struggle. In 1980 Zanu (PF) was preoccupied with the retention of state power and they overlooked the intricacies of transforming Zimbabwe into a democratic state.

We are a concoction of tribes and races that froth with violent legacies attempting to oppress one another. June 27 reflects on our way of life as a nation spinning on its evil axis. We simply need to democratize our land and free it from violence as a way of finishing the business of the armed struggle whose initial intentions were aborted by Zanu (PF). – SABASTIAN S. MUKONZA, by e-mail
