Mapeza unstoppable

With a ten point lead on the log, Monomotapa looks set for a bid bonus this year. Second placed, Njube Sundowns, are trailing behind with six points with two games ahead of Monos, as Mapeza leaves no trace.

Their recent 1-0 victory over Gunners gave them three points, which extended their lead from seven to ten points.

Mapeza, who have been described by many as “too serious” a coach, trains together with his charges. While other teams take a rest the eve of their big matches, Mapeza put the boys through their paces the day before they disciplined Gunners in Dzivarasekwa.

The return of the Green Machine

A CBZ premier soccer league match played at Callies Sports Club, on August 31, announced the return of Caps United to their winning ways, following a 2-0 victory over Motor Action.

Kepe Kepe’s 6-2 victory over Masvingo United, last month, was proved to be no fluke when they outclassed the Harare giants, Dynamos 1-0 in the ABC Sup8r semi final the following weekend, to qualify for the final of the eight team showdown.

Jostein Mathuthu’s charges climbed two places from position 14 to 12 on the log standings. Their next assignment is against reigning league champions, Dynamos.

August was an ugly month for Dynamos who suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Zamalek before falling 1-2 to Al Ahly, had a humiliating ten men 0-1 defeat against their city rivals, Caps United.
