Samkeliso Moyo wins 42 km R60 000 Ned Bank race in SA

 

The Zimbabwean marathon runner saved the best for the last as she took the lead with only 4km remaining to complete the race in 2:42:11s.

 

The defending champion pocketed R60 000.

 

Despite dominating several events in South Africa and the continent, she had entering the race as the defending champion she had not won any major event this season.

 

Another Zimbabwean athlete Sharon Tawengwa(25) came second

 

.In the mens categoryMotlokoa Nkabuhtlane took the fisrt prize in 2:14:15s followed by Lenga Nkoka who was last years winter marathon winner.

 

It was a huge disappointment for South African born Molema (31) who was leading for the better part of the race and only to succumb in the last stages of the race who came fourth.

 

Zimbabwean Gilbert Mutandiro found the going tough as he came a distance 10th position.

 

The sponsors of the race applauded the athletes for providing a descent performance.
