Caps United head-coach, Jostein Mathuthu, is hopeful that his team will escape the jaws of relegation this season following a 3-0 win over Lengthens, in a CBZ premier soccer league match, at Rufaro stadium, on October 25.

At least we can afford to breathe, he said. I am very grateful to the fans, they have been there for us, we hope this will be our turning point to start climbing up the ladder.

Beaven Chikaka recorded the Green Machine’s first goal in the third minute, from a cross by Malawi international, Raaquib Lulu Milanzi, in the far left flank. Substitutes Nyasha Mushekwi and former Dynamos striker, Tendai Gwata, killed Lengthens’ hopes of an equalizer to ensure their team of all the points, in the second half.

Captain Ndumiso Khanye’s resilient defense deserved credit and goalkeeper Ephraim Mazarura, did well to guard the nets until his injury 17 minutes into the second half. He collided with Mushekwi in the box and was sent off and substituted by Muzondiwa Gonese.

Mushekwi sprinted past Lengthens defense, swaying sideways to leave Gonese diving for his shadow; Bruce Tshuma’s effort to cut in was fruitless.

Three minutes later, Gwata with only 10 minutes on the field, after coming in for Alexander Mangadza in the 65minute, blasted a rebound into the nets to register United’s third.
