NAMABIA: WAR OR PEACE? AUTHORITARIAN POLARISATION VERSUS POLITICAL PLURALISM

SINCE the formation of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) the political culture in Namibia has changed dramatically.

This is in marked contrast to the only limited extent to which the RDP
seems to have emerged as a true political alternative. It has
nonetheless impacted on the party-political map of Namibia more than
any other political opposition since Independence and has sparked off a
lively and highly controversial public debate over democratic practices
and virtues ahead of the parliamentary and presidential elections
towards the end of 2009.
