South Africa: Nandoni river claims another victim

Johannesburg - A 24-year-old Zimbabwean immigrant died last Tuesday, when he drowned in Nandoni, the biggest dam in South Africa 's Limpopo province.


The body of Thomas Mangwiro, a Zimbabwean man who became the 15th person to drown in the Nandoni dam, was discovered by local fishermen after they had cast their nets into the dam.
His body was identified by some fellow Zimbabweans who were nearby, said the Limpopo police Wednesday.
Mangwiro is believed to be one of the many Zimbabwean nationals that continue to illegally cross the border into neighbouring countries, as they try to flee a worsening

South Africa has been their most preferred destination, due to its economic prosperity, although it is now having employment problems of its own.
A few weeks, six Zimbabweans drowned in the giant Limpopo River while trying to cross into their country's more prosperous neighbour, where more than 3 million of their countrymen are already living and working.
