Zimbabwe pooled in tough group at Sevens rugby tournament

 JOHANNESBURG ---Zimbabwe have been handed a tricky draw at the upcoming International Rugby Board Sevens World Cup.
The team was pooled in the same group that includes Argentina, Uruguay and Wales, all stronger teams than Zimbabwe.

The draw was conducted by Rugby World Cup Limited chairman Bernard Lapasset on Monday in Dubai where tournament is scheduled to take place in March.

Argentina are likely to pose the major challenge to Zimbabwe's hopes in Pool F.

Nonetheless, coach Liam Middleton, could find take courage from the fact that his charges have beaten Argentina in Sevens rugby before.

The Cheetahs, as the Zimbabweans are known, last featured in the 2001 edition of the tournament that was held in Argentina.

They are one of four African representatives, the others being Kenya, Tunisia and South Africa.

The six group winners and two best runners-up will progress to the quarter-finals of the main event while four other runners-up and four best sides that finish third will contest the Plate event with the remaining sides competing for the Bowl.– CAJ News.
