Mutsauki goes for top African sporting post

JOHANNESBURG - Zimbabwe's veteran sports administrator and chief executive officer for the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) Robert Mutsauki is vying for Africa's top job in the Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa (Anoca).

Mutsauki, a renowned sports administrator confirmed last week that he
had lobbied enough in both southern and eastern African regional blocks
in order to land the post of a secretary general of the Anoca, Africa’s
most respected Olympic body.

"I have lobbied with almost every member state in southern Africa. I am
looking forward to receiving at least 27 of the total 53 votes in order
to become the new secretary general," said Mutsauki.

Mutsauki, who led Zimbabwe in various portfolios in tennis and other
regional, continental and international appointments, is widely
believed to be the hot favourite for the job.
