ZIFA bungles again, sidelines winning coach

zimbabwe_football_association_zifa_logo.jpgHARARE - The ever-blundering Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) was at it again last week when it dumped the Warriors under-17 head coach Rodwell Dhlakama ahead of the 8th African Under-17 championship that took off in Algiers, Algeria

Dhlakama, regarded as one of the best junior coaches in Africa guided
the Zimbabwe under-17 soccer squad to the continental championship
final in Algeria before winning gold medals in the Coca-Cola regional
competition as well as both the COSAFA and COSANOC games.

The most successful under-17 coach in the land was away to South Africa
with Monomotapa Football Club for the Confederation of African Football
(CAF) club championship when the ZIFA board made this controversial
decision, which left the entire nation shell-shocked.

I am definitely shocked! How on earth could a group of supposedly be
football administrators make such a stupid and senseless decision?
Everybody knows that Dhlakama is the one who guided the under-17 to
such great heights, said Rumbidzai Magoche, a soccer fan from Harare's
Sunningdale suburb

However, ZIFA chief executive officer Henrietta Rushwaya refused to
comment arguing that she was not present when the decision was taken to
relieve Dhlakama of his duties as head coach of the Young Under-17
Warriors.

Zimbabwe has been drawn in group B' alongside Burkina Faso, Malawi and Niger respectively
