Coventry, who has an impressive haul of medals including two Olympic
golds, booked her place for the Rome Championships with an impressive
showing at the ongoing Telkom SA National Aquatics Championships at the
Kings Park aquatics centre in Durban.
She qualified for the world showpiece in Rome in the 200 metres
backstroke on 2:08.32. This was faster than her opening day's effort of
2:10.38.
The FINA World Championships or World Aquatics Championships that will
run from July 18 to August 2 are the world's premier championships for
aquatic sports such as diving, swimming, open water swimming,
synchronized swimming and water polo.
