MUTUKUDZI NOMINATED FOR SAMA AWARD

The veteran vocalist-cum-guitarist is in line to win the Best Traditional/African Adult Contemporary DVD for his Live at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.Tuku, as the loveable performer is known, will battle it out against gospel musician Jabu Hlongwane (The Crossover Experience), Joyous Celebration (Live at Grand West Arena), Soweto Gospel Choir (Live at Nelson Mandela Theatre and Spirit of Praise (Volume One).
The veteran musician is one of the most popular artists to emerge from the continent and has major awards that can fill a cabinet.
Among these is the Kora Award he received for his hit track Ndakubvara, which scooped the award for Best Arrangement.
Mutukudzi, whose children are also in the music industry, has wooed audiences around the world and collaborated with such renowned acts as South African jazz icon Ringo.
Popular among political figures in Zimbabwe as well, the 56-year-old, created controversy in 1999 with his track, Bvuma, which many inteprated as a message to President Mugabe to step down from power as he had aged.
