Here, we give you a sneak preview of the books opening chapter:
Rhodesia, October 15th, 1971. A young girl ran terrified through the bushes because she knew she was running for her life. The girl was extremely afraid but she dared not scream lest he hear her. Therefore, she ran and ran further into the bush in silence as there was no telling what the man would do in his anger. Thoughts ran through her mind, thoughts of regret. Maybe she shouldnt have kicked him. Now it was too late.
She kept looking back to see if her pursuer was gaining on her. As she frantically dashed away, part of her sleeve got caught in a thicket and was ripped off. She was barefoot now because her tennis shoes, which were far too big for her, had fallen off in the sprint. Sharp pains shot up through the calf of her leg as thorns dug into the soft skin of her heel. She writhed in pain and longed to be able to stop to pluck them out. Now was not the time because, at this very moment, her dignity, integrity and possibly her life were at stake.
Fatigue had set in but she had to get away because if she didnt, that man would catch her. A few yards behind her, the man was racing through the bush and angrily muttered under his breath: You black slut.
