The chemicals were found in two abandoned containers aboard a ship at the country’s international maritime terminal earlier this year, the state controlled daily Noticias reported citing tax department authorities.
The confiscated chemicals would be incinerated in the Boane district of Maputo province in a joint operation by the customs department, tax authority and the ministry of environment affairs.
Mozambique is considered a country with a high rate of consumption of Mandrax and cocaine.
It is also used as a transit route by drug barons and drug mules moving drugs between the Americas, other African countries and Europe.
