In a surprise move, mobile operator, Econet Wireless has announced the resignation of long serving founding executive Zachary Wazara from the company and its board of directors. According to the company Wazara ceased being a company executive and board member at the end of May this year.Wazara has been instrumental in the growth of Econet with founder Strive Masiyiwa from being one network based operator in Zimbabwe to a global telecommunications group.
Although the reasons for his resignation are not known the company said he was pursuing personal business interest. Wazara becomes the second long serving executive and board member after Rugare Chidembo to resign from the telecoms group this year.
