Mr Zhou said at the ongoing Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola that the company has been encouraged by the response it was receiving from Zambian customers.
He said Hwange Collieries was in Zambia, on the Copperbelt to consolidate the relationship with its customers who had shown commitment in doing business with the company.
It is in our plans to open depots in Zambia, especially on the Copperbelt because of the response the company has received from customers such as the mining and manufacturing industries, Mr Zhou said.
The company was also enjoying good business with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and positioning the depots on the Copperbelt, would make it even easier to deal with the DRC market and beyond.
Hwange Collieries, which is viewed as the life blood of the Zimbabwean industry, has a production capacity of at least 425,000 tonnes of coal per month.
The company also produces 18,000 tonnes of coke per month which is used by the mining industry in copper smelting.
Hwange uses both open cast and underground mining methods to mine the coal.
Mr Zhou said the company had the necessary equipment to mine coal 24 hours a day and had continued to work closely with the Rail Systems of Zambia and other transporters to facilitate freight of the commodity to intended markets. He said the company had the capacity to satisfy the needs of the Zambian industry.
