HARARE - The Under-16 national boys basketball team were invited by the global mother board, Federation of International Basketball Association, to take part in the African finals.Both the national schoolgirls and schoolboys sides failed to qualify for the showpiece when they missed the top two slots that awarded a ticket to Mozambique, when Zimbabwe hosted the Zone Six qualifiers, last May.
As the best runners up at the competition, the Zimbabwe side that was coached by Ladi Munetsi, were fortunate to get Fiba recognition and will now take part in the continental showcase.
The schoolboys will be making their maiden appearance at a competition of this magnitude as 12 African countries compete for honours, this month.
