Magistrate Pride Rusike remanded the five unemployed youth though two of them – Nhlanhla Ndebele and Qhubani Ncube – complained that they have been behind bars for too long and they want the matter to be concluded.
Ndebele, Ncube, Vusa Dube, Mthabisi Dube and Surprise Phiri are accused of possessing three 9mm pistols and 23 live bullets without a licence or permit at Area G Location in Francistown. The five lost their freedom on August 3.
At one time, Phiri was alleged to be in the Interpol list of the most wanted robbers. It was suspected that he could have furnished the police with wrong names, as he was variously known as Andrew, Shabangani, Njabulo, Siziba and Julias. However, the suspicions have been laid to rest.
Gasemotho Pitlagano is prosecuting the case while the defence attorney is Morgan Moseki.
