Tsvangirai impatient with Mugabe

morgan_advising_bobHARARE - Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is slowly losing patience over the slow and embarrassing pace at which the Southern African Development Community (SADC), who are the guarantors of the Global Political Agreement (GPA), is taking in ensuring that the signotories to the GPA implement it fully.

Tsvangirai said, ” SADC remains seized with the enormous responsibility of ensuring that the parties signatory to the GPA move rapidly towards its full implementation” – a clear sign that Robert Mugabe was never sincere and willing to share power with his long time rival, right from the beginning.

Tsvangirai registered his disappointment with his participation in government by telling reporters that he was at the summit not as Prime Minister of Zimbabwe but as leader of the MDC.

“Now that the SADC troika is specifically vested with the matter of

Zimbabwe, it is my hope and belief that it will deal with all outstanding

issues as a matter of urgency,” he said

Meanwhile, despite the formation of the unity government in February, service delivery is yet to improve as many suburbs in Harare like Mabvuku and Tafara have gone for months without water, with the same problem recently affecting Harare’s dormitory suburb Chitungwiza, posing a threat of the return of the deadly cholera which claimed hundreds of lives in 2008.

The government is in need of emergency funding to return life of the citizens to normalcy but the rich western nations with the money to help kickstart the comatose economy need more positive political reforms befor commiting any money to the government of Zimbabwe.
