Kasukuwere denies Munikwa sacking

HARARE - A witch hunt at Harare soccer giants Dynamos has claimed the scalp of an innocent medic- Abigail Munikwa- in a move which smacks of gender discrimination following the team's loss of form which has threatened their stranglehold on the league table.

Munikwa, who is a physiotherapist, claims that she was fired by the club after some superstitious fans complained that she was responsible for the team’s dismal run in recent weeks. They alleged that her presence on the bench affected the team’s performance as the teams magical powers did not work when women were involved.

Munikwa was conspicuous by her absence from the bench during the league match against Hwange on Wednesday. And Dynamos, who had suffered two straight defeats to surrender their stranglehold on the league table to Gunners bounced back from those two weeks of turbulence to beat the coal miners 2-0 and reclaim top spot.

The win was sadly attributed to the absence of Munikwa from the team’s bench and fans chanted songs against her after the match as they celebrated.

Munikwa was also barred from checking into the teams hotel for camp on the eve of that match.

Although Munikwa claims that she was fired from the club, team secretary general Stan Kasukuwere told The Zimbabwean ******** this week that she was still part of the team’s medical team.

“She is still with us. There is no truth about her being fired because it is only the executive which hires and fires employees. If this was communicated to her by some one who is not a member of the executive, it should not be taken seriously because it has no effect.” said Kasukuwere.
