Sangala was reacting to reports that about 570 Malawians were deported as illegal immigrants in Africas economic powerhouse, South Africa.
The Minister was speaking on Capital FM radio DayBreak Malawi programme.
They [Malawi who go abroad for greener pastures] are not patriotic enough Malawians should learn to be patriotic. There is no point going elsewhere trying to help the economy of that country, said Sangala.
He said government will embark on civic education on citizens not to go abroad. The Minister disclosed that the civic education is an initiative at cabinet level.
Commenting on the deportation of Malawians in South Africa who were not allowed to get their effects back home, the Minister said the matter can be followed up through Malawi High Commission in Pretoria. He described the deportation of about 570 Malawians as normal.
If people are staying illegally in their country it is normal to deport them, said Sangala. Each country has its own rules.
Its a risk these people have taken by staying illegally, said the Minister.
South Africa immigration authorities have intensified its campaign to flush out illegal immigrants as it prepares to host World Cup next year.
