Police investigate suspended Monoz coaches

police_badgeHARARE The Monomotapa executive has roped the police in to facilitate investigations of suspended Monomotapa coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, and team manager, Clayton Munemo, amid reports that the executive has failed to prove that the two indeed fixed their African Champions League match against Eitole Du Sahel of Tunisia.

Club secretary David Makombe told ****The Zimbabwean**** in an interview at the weekend that the matter had been handed over to the police who were going to carry out their own investigations before the matter was put to rest.

” I can not say much at the moment until the police finish their investigations,” said Makombe.

Dhlakama and Munemo were suspended after suspicions that they could have thrown the African Champions League match against Eitoile Du Sahel of Tunisia in Sousse which they lost 2-0.

According to sources close to the goings on at the club, some members of the management were arguing that the coaches should be suspended for the rest of the season while others wanted the suspension to be lifted.

It is alleged that Monomotapa were given a luxurious bus in Sousse to ferry the players to and from the match venue. This caused eyebrows to raise within the team management.

This follows the report compiled by the head of the delegation who said there was something amiss about the conduct of the technical team headed by Dhlakama.

Assistant coach Taurai Mangwiro has taken over in an acting capacity.
