HARARE - Zimbabwes top Motorsport racer, Axcil Jefferies, reckons his recent competition, the Singapore Formula One, as the best event he has competed in so far. (Pictured: Axcil Jefferies, Zimbabwes top Motorsport racer.)The Singapore event was amazing. It was by far, the best event I have been to, said the youthful driver. There was so much going on, the atmosphere was out of this world. I couldn’t believe how great the track was. It was a real drivers track and outside racing there were concerts every night, featuring artists like Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas and Gwen Stefani. The race was very challenging, but I had a fantastic time.
In race one, Jefferies got a fantastic start exiting turn one in third, and maintained his position to the last corner of the last lap where Chinese driver, Ciao, clipped the back of the Zimbabwean to send him into a spectacular roll, and an unfortunate DNF.
The 15-year-old was fortunate not to suffer any serious injury. It was the first time I have ever overturned a Formula BMW. I was to take my hat off for BMW after jumping out without a scratch or bruise. They (BMW) once again proved how safe the cars are, commended Jefferies.
In race two, Jefferies finished an impressive fifth position considering he was one of the novices that gave Jack Harvey, a tough challenge.
He also set the 3rd quickest lap time of the race although he wished he did more. I would say my toughest rival this year has been Rio Haryanto. The advantage he had over me is experience. He has been driving single seaters for 2 years now, and this has been my first season in single seaters, said Jefferies. But I have been getting stronger and stronger with each race and Im confident that I will eventually beat him.
