PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has appointed Justice Frederick Mwita Werema as the new Attorney General. He replaces Mr Johnson Mwanyika who is retiring. The president has also appointed Mr George Mcheche Masaju as the deputy attorney general.
According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications, the appointments took effect yesterday.
Before his appointment, Mr Werema was a judge in the Commercial Division of the High Court of Tanzania. Mr Masaju was Presidential Legal Adviser at the State House.
