US$2 for seat at Cosafa tournament

cosafa_cupTicket prices and prize-money structures have been announced for the 2009 COSAFA Senior Challenge to be held in Zimbabwe from October 17 to November 1.

The tournament features the very best of Southern Africa’s talent and will afford spectators the opportunity to see not only the finest talent of today, but the stars of tomorrow too in a two-week celebration of the region’s football.

All countries in the COSAFA region will be participating bar Madagascar, whose international schedule does not allow them to feature, with Zimbabwe gearing up to host the competition for the first time.

Matches will be played in Harare and Bulawayo, with entrance to games in the first round through to the third-fourth place play-off priced at US$2 for standard seating, US$5 for seating in the WINGS area (apart from the quarterfinal between South Africa and Angola, as well as the semi-finals and third-fourth place play-off, which will cost US$8) and US$15 for the VIP area.

The final in Harare on November 1 will cost US$3 for standard entrance, US$10 for WINGS and US$15 for the VIP area.

Meanwhile, COSAFA Senior Challenge organisers have also announced the prize-money for the individual awards at the tournament.

The top goal-scorer and top goalkeeper awards come with a US$1 000 prize, while the Player of the Tournament will take home a cool US$1 500. The Man of the Match for each game will received a commemorative trophy, as will the team to win the Fair Play Award.
