It would seem those who are behind the idea of bringing back the Zimdollar before Zimbabwe has achieved economic stability have nothing better to do, run out of ideas or have simply lost touch with reality.
It was just last year when Zimbabwe was a banana republic with scenes more befitting a gods-must-be-crazy movie. Maybe that is what those who are now pushing for the quick return of the Zimdollar meant when they said at the time that we did not need book economics. They resorted to voodoo economics and turned Zimbabwe into an economic fools paradise.
Only a fool would accept the Zimdollar returning now before the economy has fully stabilised. Before we can think of bringing back the Zimdollar we must first restore productivity in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors, ensure adequate power and water supplies, revive public health and education and uphold property rights in order to restore investor confidence in Zimbabwe.
Those calling for a return of the Zimdollar now are lost. Zimbabweans do not want to experience the pain and suffering that they had to endure over the past few years because of voodoo economic policies. On behalf of the majority of Zimbabweans, I say: No Zimdollar, No cry! — By email
